Scientology Volunteer Ministers Bring Their Yellow Tent to Bologna
Bologna's Piazza Lucio Dalla is hosting the travelling yellow tent of the Volunteer Ministers of Scientology, remaining in Piazza Lucio Dalla until 8 September.
Around 100 people attended the opening, including representatives of communities assisted by Volunteer Ministers after natural disasters.
Among them was Pianoro Mayor Luca Vecchiettini, who spoke about the relationship established with the volunteers after severe flooding in 2024. Restaurateur Fabrizio Lazzarini also spoke emotionally about the assistance received when his restaurant was affected by mud humanitarian and water.
Andrea Ferrarini, formerly involved with civil protection in Bondeno, recalled Volunteer Ministers helping communities following the 2012 Emilia earthquake.
Created in 1976 by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, the programme offers practical tools for communication, relationships and problem-solving alongside humanitarian response.
Inside the Bologna tent, visitors can see displays about humanitarian work and practical assistance while learning about practical approaches to interpersonal difficulties and daily problems.
Ivan Arjona, representative of the Church of Scientology to the EU, OSCE, Council of Europe and UN, described the Bologna initiative as a reflection of the role citizens can play in strengthening their communities.
The yellow tent shows how the Volunteer Ministers programme combines emergency response with practical help for daily challenges.
